A Note From the Goat

Most Blessed Dirt Runners

I am proud to accept your entry into this casual fall romp across the splendor of changing leaves and groomed trails. Ha, you signed up to do this. Dementia rules. Seriously, I’m proud of you already! You are the few, the serious non-wimps, those towing the line at DWD!

Please, attempt to follow the course this year. We are tired of looking for you across 4 counties. Yes, the runner in front of you may be lost, the ribbons don’t lie! The largest rule at DWD is “Follow the course, not the runner in front of you!” Those morons could be going the wrong way and you could win! Seriously, it can be tricky at DWD; the course leaves perfectly good trails and heads into utter crapola. We mark the turns up big time, but when in the running zone, there is a chance to zone on past. It’s part of trail running so get used to looking.

It’s a great big beautiful piece of woods to tromp through on the long run. Enjoy every step and remember this is what ya do for fun!
The course is calling, start counting the days!

Now a note from Randy Step, president of RF Events, just out of goat mode.

The dirt team is working day & night as we get closer to DWD Day. Our goal is to give you a running experience like no other. This race is more than special to all of us; it’s a passion, much like running itself.

I want to thank the Dirt Team … the markers, the aid station & exchange crews, parking rats, finish line crew, data entry and every person who makes DWD what it is. It won’t come off perfect, it can’t, but we’ll be givin’ it a shot … The variables are many but the challenge of pulling it off drives us to the core. (Please take this into account when you are lost, pissed off or get cold pizza!)

With a full calendar of great events out there, you chose ours and we thank you! Run fast and take chances but also look out for yourself and each other as we head into this great adventure,

Team Note: DWD Day is special and with some planning, you can make it even more stupid and memorable. Get the team theme going, it adds to the fun. Consider the shock factor when dreamin’ up the theme! Make that car a float. Blow us away with your imagination. Have fun!

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
